WP3: A holistic Model of Dementia Care

Objectives

The objective of WP3 is to investigate current care practices and develop a holistic model of understanding dementia care with regard to challenges and opportunities of social engagement.

O3.1: Explore existing approaches to care across different groups of people with dementia;

O3.2: Understand personal, inter-personal and environmental issues and how they encourage or discourage perceptions of self-empowerment and engagement with social interaction.

O3.3: Identify challenges, opportunities and best practice for a mindful design supported care approach for people with dementia.

O3.4: Develop a holistic model of care for people with dementia.

Description of Work

WP3 will be led by UL assisted by Alzheimer Europe. It will investigate and develop best practice for dementia care with regard to challenges and opportunities of social engagement.

Task 3.1: Develop a protocol for focus groups, interviews and co-design methodology with the target groups, including people with dementia, carers, care staff and other stakeholders.

Task 3.2: Focus groups and interviews with target groups to gain information for the holistic care model with respect to current care practice and as preparation for co-exploration (Task 3.3).

Task 3.3: Co-explore with target groups how personal, inter-personal and environmental issues encourage or discourage engagement with social interaction.

Task 3.4: Review and synthesise knowledge gained to develop holistic model of care, including challenges and opportunities for mindful design, taking into account findings from WPs 4, 5, 6.
