WP8 Update Year 1

Semi-annual update – September 2016

Work package 8 (WP8) is concerned with the publication of the project work and outcomes of MinD in academic and non-academic formats, and with the general dissemination and outreach of project activities and results through different channels.

Over the first half year of the project, a detailed plan for dissemination has been developed for various forms of publications. This includes a plan for academic publications for the scientific work packages (WPs 2-5) as well as various online publications and distribution via social media.

A first academic publication includes a poster presentation at the 26th Alzheimer Europe Conference (see reference below). Work on four journal papers (WPs 2-5) has started during the secondments in June and September.

The MinD project has developed its own newsletter which is being sent out periodically on the MinD public discussion list and other with links to the projects Twitter feed, and the news of the MinD project are also being publicised through Alzheimer Europe’s the monthly newsletter.

The project website is being updated regularly with project information and updates related to the exchanges. A twitter account has been set up and used to increase the audience to 161, special attention was paid to relevant events such as World Alzheimers Day.

The MinD project presented to the Alzheimer Europe Public Affairs Group in Brussels in June 2016, and it received airing via RAF Cosford radio at the RAF Cosford air show to its 15,000 visitors.

Detailed plans have been made for the annual MinD symposia, with the first to take place on 7th December 2016 in London.

Semi-annual update – February 2017

On 7th December 2016, the first MinD symposium took place in Europe House in London. The successful event included talks, a design workshop and a panel discussion. Keynote speaker was Professor Cathy Treadaway from Cardiff Metropolitan University. The event attracted researchers, healthcare professionals and designers and members of the general public with an interest in dementia and stimulated lively discussion, especially on the issue of evaluating qualitative or ‘soft’ results.

The notes of the symposium presentations are available on our resources pages. Throughout October to January, work on the scientific publications (journal and conference papers) has continued, and will also be available on the resources pages once published.

The MinD newsletter is sent out periodically on the MinD public discussion list and the news of the MinD project are also being publicised through the Alzheimer Europe’s the monthly newsletter.

The project website is being updated regularly with project information and updates related to the exchanges. The amount of followers on Twitter is increasing and the MinD account now has 226 followers.
